The brake pedal has a little free play so, when pressing down to slow down or
stop your vehicle do it gently at first so to take away that gap. Then, press a little
more ( the thickness of a pound coin) as much as is required but always gently.
If you are using the foot brake to slow down at traffic, always prepare to come to
a stop 1 car distance away from the vehicle in front. That will allow you to either
stop safely or, release the foot brake if the traffic suddenly starts moving again
avoiding a complete stop.
